Be Knowledgeable.. Be Unconventional..
Do you know who holds the world record for being the most knowledgeable person? No? Well, you can control your urge to google it out. We are not here to test your knowledge; we are just trying to bring your attention to an unusual yet important fact. The world is full of smart and intelligent people, but no one has claimed to be the most knowledgeable person in the world. In fact, there is no proper tool to measure knowledge. You may argue that we can test IQ. However, IQ gives an idea about someone’s intelligence, not knowledge. It is really difficult to measure the level of knowledge one possesses as knowledge is limitless.
Being knowledgeable doesn’t mean to know about each and everything. The world is full of information, and it is growing exponentially too. It is not possible to keep all the information in your mind, and it is not required too. Even if someone is able to grasp all the information in the world, that would cause a lot of chaos and confusion in his mind.
Have you ever heard the phrase “Scientia potentia est”? Well you may not be aware of this Latin aphorism but you must have heard its English translation and that is ‘Knowledge is Power’. What does this actually mean? Does this mean that being knowledgeable would make us powerful? If so then why do the people sitting at most powerful positions seem ignorant and lack knowledge?
There must be a different interpretation of this phrase. In physics, power means the rate of doing work and if we think about the phrase in this context, Knowledge is the rate of doing work. Well, do you think that having mere knowledge about something would give you the power? Not at all, knowledge just gives you potential power. However, unless you find out a way to use the knowledge that you have obtained, your knowledge cannot make you powerful. It simply means that your knowledge can be your superpower if you use it. The more you use your knowledge, the more you may have to face failures. And when you fail, you become aware of your mistakes and you learn from your mistakes which in turn increases your knowledge.
The great Albert Einstein used to say, “It’s not that I am so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer”. The more you stay with your problems you learn how to tackle them, your knowledge grows and finally you succeed. People say “chase your dreams and you shall succeed” but the catch is that no one tells that you may fail many times in the process of chasing your dreams. However, it is important to be knowledgeable enough to accept your failures, learn from your mistakes and move ahead. Until you have the willingness to learn from your mistakes, you can’t succeed. Being knowledgeable doesn’t mean that you need to know everything; it means to keep your mind open to observations, associate yourself with smarter people, and be ready to learn from your failures. It is often said that if you are the smartest person in your room, then you are in the wrong room. Don’t be like ‘I-know-it-all’; always be like ‘I want to know it all’. It may seem that you are the best, but be aware that you will always find someone who is far superior to you, and when you find someone who is superior to you, keep your ego aside and be curious to learn from them. Always have an attitude to learn and be knowledgeable, and that will make you unconventional.
